SOULLESERA (formerly Why We Live)Grunge / Alternative / Rock
Why We Live Why we live, a group that in 2007 started out with no real direction and no answer as to what lay ahead, began a path with a sole purpose, and a new dedication to the reconstruction and recreation of the Grunge era. But with more influences then Nirvana and Alice in Chains under their belt including: Led Zepplin, Ozzy Ozbourne, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Sublime, Stone Temple Pilots, and yes even metal acts such as Pantera, Metallica and Slayer, the then Losing Grip couldn’t achieve their goal without something more than grunge coming out of it. And now with a mix of Grunge, Rock, and Alternative, Why We Live sits poised to make a statement on a music genre without enough egde in it. After a bitter break up with his former band, a hard hitting metal vocalist from a small, unknown band in central British Columbia, decided to take a different approach on the music he was creating. Most of the people close to him and the fans, all new frontman Shane Thomas, as an edgy metal screamer, but it was his song writing and natural singing voice that caught the attention, of now drummer Errol Hug. Errol Hug had also grown up in a small town in Central B.C. , but had spent most of his music career as a singer and lead guitarist in his own band, a local cover band by the name of Fatty Lumpkin. Errol and Shane had met at a show at which Fatty Lumpkin and Shane’s then band Killing Stone, had been playing together. After a friendship had grown between the two Errol had brought up an idea to which Shane later entertained, of keeping the image but dropping the metal and start singing. Still, with a promising out look and new direction to their music, the two needed a bass player to finish the equation, and turned to long time friend Mike Winter. Mike’s positive attitude, love for playing bass and natural promotional skills were exactly what “Losing Grip’ had needed to get the band out of the attic and into the music scene. After promising gigs, and obtaining a following of loyal fans over the two year spread, the group had a decision to make. The decision was whether to stay in an area with no potential and no where to play, or head to the city in search of fame and prosperity. The band realized what they had to and after an inspired name change Why We Live has come to reclaim the music scene, whether it’s a hard hitting Rock type such as ‘Give it Away’ a soft ballad in ‘My Mother Earth’ or a classic grunge style piece with ‘Oops’, which clearly wasn’t a mistake, the trio is ready to recapture the glory days of Rock.

TeleComing from Winnipeg, MB. An epic fusion of ethereal keyboards and yearning vocals, Tele are a band best heard loud. Echoing British acts such as Radiohead, the electro-rock quartet makes despondency oh-so-listenable. Note to the kids in white belts: this is what emotional music is supposed to sound like.
